請大家看看這兩組句子有什麼不同。


第一組：
1. The first passengers on the car were Bob, May, and John that traveled togather on the highway.

2. The first passengers on the car were Bob, May, and John, who traveled togather on the highway.

第二組：
1. Restrictions on tourist and fishing industries that were stipulated.

2. Restrictions on tourist and fishing industries stipulated.

我想請大家看看同一組裡的兩個句子在句意上有什麼不同。

第一組：
第一句的用法是用來限定，可能有很多Bob, May, and John，大家可能搞不清楚是哪個
所以說明一下是traveled together的那幾個。

第二句的用法是用來補述，大家都知道Bob, May, and John是誰，就不用對他們的身份多加說明了，只是多提一下他們traveled together。
逗點後面用關係代名詞的多是這種用法

第二組：
有點怪怪的，基本上第一句不是完整的句子喔，第二句也怪怪的，stipulate後面要接到底stipulate了什麼東西
不過不管這些問題的話
兩個結構想要表達的意思是差不多的
只是第一句很清楚表示就是tourist and fishing industries被stipulate了

第二句則比較沒有表達出到底stipulate了什麼，雖然Restrictions on tourist and fishing industries暗示了stipulate的對象，但還是要看stipulate後面接了什麼來決定明確的句意。

請大家看看這兩組句子有什麼不同。

第二組：

together我查不到動詞用法

不過我覺得最至主要差別在限定與非限定

第二組第一個為什麼沒動詞??

不過我覺得最主要差別在形容詞子句修飾的對象

我漏打了一個traveled，請大家見諒。

事實上這兩個句子（第二組句子事實上只是一個名詞）都是從the princeton review裡出來的，
我覺得遇到這種題目時特別下手，所以提出來讓大家看看。
以下是princeton提供的正確解讀。

第一組：

1. The first passengers on the car were Bob, May, and John that traveled togather on the highway.

這句是說Bob, May和John都是首批乘客，但只有John他一個人在公路上旅行。

2. The first passengers on the car were Bob, May, and John, who traveled togather on the highway.

這句則表達三個人都是首批乘客，而且都在公路上旅行。

第二組：

1. Restrictions on tourist and fishing industries that were stipulated.

這句的that were stupulated修飾『旅遊業』以及『漁業』，而不是修飾restrictions。

2. Restrictions on tourist and fishing industries stipulated.

這句的stipulated則修飾restrictions。[tab]

這是princeton的解說，我知道那個togather礙眼，
但that只修飾John一人是沒問題的。

不過卻是相當重要的觀念

第二句似乎有點ambiguity的感覺

如果把第一句改成分詞片語
一樣可以變成第二句
1. Restrictions on tourist and fishing industries (that were) stipulated.[/quote]
而省略之後，可以形容restrictions,industries
就沒有第一句那麼清楚了

that無限定用法
可以代那三個人也可以代到更前面的passengers
若只代一人句意有together不合
who前有逗號也是非限定,是講三個人否則用were會主動詞不一致
together是副詞
