其實我覺得A是怪怪的沒錯,
因為在於到底對cod and haddock有沒有legal limits?
照理說句意上應該是要contrast monkfish與cod and haddock才對,
可是若是A的話,變成是兩個都沒有legal limits.
我把我的想法說一下吧.
A.There are no legal limits, as there are for cod and haddock, on the size of monkfish that can be caught, a circumstance that contributes to their depletion through overfishing.
1.首先,我必須承認,there are當作主詞不是一個好方式,但是山窮水盡了,C答案實在覺得有問題,而OG或是考古題也是有there are當主詞的題,因此不得已的時候,ETS還是認可用there are 當主詞的句子.因此, as there are for cod and haddock這句, 我認為as就是連接詞,,整句應是as there are
no legal limits for cod and haddock, no legal limits為舊資訊,省略,句意來看, ”…沒有法律限制,就如同對cod and haddock沒有法律限制,…”這樣講似乎也可通.
2.monkfish的單複數問題,我有上google搜尋,因為字典沒有這個字,而yahoo的字典翻譯為
扁鯊,未說單複數,因此上了google,得到:
sharks with
broad flat bodies and winglike pectoral fins but that swim the way sharks do,看起來yahoo的翻譯沒錯,而google上得到的是
sharks,因此這個字應該是單複數同形,所以我覺得後面用their沒有問題.
3.至於there are no 或是there are not,只是我個人感覺念起來怪怪的,如果老莫說可以的話,那只能說我語感有問題嚕.. :P
A.選的也是很虛啦,但是我認為比C.好,因為看OG或是考古題,確實ETS不認同將which指代整個抽象概念.所以我認為C.實在選不下去.
