Two water pumps, working simultaneously at their respective constant rates, took exactly 4 hours to fill a certain swimming pool. If the constant rate of one pump was 1.5 times the constant rate of the other, how many hours would it have taken the faster pump to fill the pool if it had worked alone at its constant rate?

不知是否正確, 但我的解法是:

設 A pump 需用 x hrs 填滿水; B (快的) pump 需用 1.5x hrs 填滿水
所以每小時 A可填滿: 1/x 滿, B 可填滿: 1/1.5x 滿
兩個pumps一起工作四個小時可以完工 : 4 (1/x + 1/1.5x) = 1
就可得出 x = 20/3, 所以 快的 pump 1.5x= 10

不知答案是否為10小時

樓上你的思路是正確的，但式子列錯了

比較快的水管，花的時間應該比較短，所以不是1.5x

我是列這樣 4 (1/x + 1/(2/3)x) = 1 這樣算出來x=10

快的速率就是20/3了

這邊好像有個錯誤
設 A pump 需用 x hrs 填滿水; B (快的) pump 需用 1.5x hrs 填滿水

較快的pump填滿所需花的時間應該要較少, 所以較快的bump 應該是求得的x,而不是1.5x
答案應該是 20/3才對~
