相信也鮮少人聽過這所新成立的「新加坡管理大學 SMU」

昨日SMU公開其最新的MBA課程
SMU MBA主要的focus是在general management和leadership上面
似乎也target工作經驗較長的學生

Financial Times - SMU launches one-year MBA

Singapore Management University, which was set up just eight years ago with the help of the Wharton school at the University of Pennsylvania, is to launch a one-year full-time MBA programme. To date the Lee Kong Chian schoool of business at SMU has focused on undergraduate degrees and executive education.

The degree will be offered in direct competition to Insead, the National University of Singapore and Nanyang Business School. As well as the 12-month full-time programme, which will launch in January 2009, a 26-month flexible programme is also being launched in September 2008.

The core curriculum will comprise 11 courses and teach subjects such as negotiation, corporate governance and cross-cultural challenges, as well as the usual finance and marketing.

“We believe that today’s global market requires a second layer of skills to think creatively, communicate and convince, challenge ideas constructively and manage ethical dilemmas,” says Pang Eng Fong, dean of the Lee Kong Chian School of Business. “The SMU MBA aims to achieve that and more.”

我是國立大學商管科系畢業 在銀行工作約三年 從事企業金融方面
很想要轉換跑道往財富管理發展,而且算算時間跟年紀 也該去念個書啦!!

可否請知道的先進分享一下經驗,例如授課方式/畢業後找工作情況

財富管理碩士，新加坡管理大學和新加坡政府的財富管理學院以及瑞士金融學院合辦

很新的學校和課程，但可是新加坡傾全力發展的領域 - 私人銀行及資產管理
課程設計非常的特別，雖說是一年的課程，但每兩個月只上兩個星期的課，其餘的時間皆用來實習
由於是政府旗艦課程，在第一個模組結束後，學校即開始幫學生與公司媒合

我注意到的是 財富管理碩士 MSc in Wealth Management 這個program
不曉得您或哪位先進有更深入的瞭解嗎?
例如:入學條件 學校希望recruit學生的背景 就業機會等等

因為雖然我有金融業相關經驗
不過轉到財富管理 勢必從頭開始 (對PB有興趣)
想知道這個program的優勢跟對就業的幫助如何...
就個人而言,碩士學位跟找工作相關性 是非常大的考量 (抱歉 我知道大家都是 我好像在廢話)
如果能留在新加坡從事相關工作的話 那麼這個program對我而言具備相當大的誘因啊~~~

簡單分享一下關於SMU MWM我所得知的資訊...

1. 目前internship的達成率為100%，學校將協助學生找尋實習的機會(聽說學校編制內有一個專門負責head hunting的部門)，但實習時間長短、工作內容及薪資皆因人而異
2. 學生裡約40%是公司sponsor就學的，大部分皆為已有金融背景者，畢業後的出路及薪資差異頗大，依個人經歷不同而定，有些已有多年金融經驗，畢業即成區域總經理，但也有些是轉換跑道者，則起步不同
3. GMAT平均成績為650，無須TOEFL
4. 課程及實習大致分兩個track，分別為private banking和asset management，前者為Relationship Manager養成，後者為Fund Manager養成
5. 學生多為新加坡人，但亦有約40%的國際學生，目前已知的國際學生有來自德國、韓國、中國、東南亞及非洲

我觀察此課程已有一段時間，若有其他問題，樂意分享其他相關的資訊...

但是我看他的網站上有提到需要TOFEL耶?!
(因為我現在在準備要考TOFEL->GMAT)
