UCLA 的 ranking 為什麼掉了那麼多? 從 #10 到 #16. 這樣還算 top 15?

我個人一直覺得general perception比這些ranking重要.

就跟BW把芝加哥放第一名,

有意義嗎?

試問你上了HBS, Stanford, Wharton, 會捨棄然後去芝加哥嗎?

要不轉頭問旁邊同事,

"你覺得哈佛商學院跟史丹佛會比芝加哥排名後面嗎?"

UCLA是傳統Top 15名校,

即使有些排名把它往下調,

它的畢業生還是有一定的水平跟brand value,

排名光是看好玩的WSJ就知道沒意義,

史丹佛排在北卡後面,

我看到真的只有會心一笑,

大致來說
每家學校都希望ranking越高越好
但是根據每種排名的原則不同
大部份學校也都是上上下下
所以
如果那個排名所依據的原則是你很在意的
那就值得參考一下囉
另一方面
瞭解一下排名依據之後
個人覺得應該還是不會超出一般人對這個學校的既定印象

另一方面
我自己不會去跟別人爭 UCLA Anderson 是不是 Top 15 or even Top 20
就算某些recruiter可能會因為排名下滑不收Anderson的畢業生
但是只要Anderson可以給我的ROI符合我的期待
那就好了 :)

一切都還是回到你對學校的要求跟期待是什麼囉..

As long as your potential recruiters go to your targeted schools, here being UCLA, what do you care whether UCLA is a top 15 or 20 school? Does ranking help you to increase your starting salary or signing bonus? Obviously not. It is you who will negotiate your fate with companies.

Ranking means nothing but a marketing tool. We are business majors here, and we are always selling something to other people. Would someone say my products are ranked the least in every possible category and I am still proud of my products? Hence, you should try my products even though they are suckers.

Marketing majors would know more than I do about how to market products. However, I do know companies/schools try to redirect your attentions to their positive sides. As a result, schools tend to use whichever ranking that would greatly increase their marketing potentials. You, as a consumer, should have abilities to distinguish schools’ phony marketing campaigns.
