好難過的感覺><

剛剛寫信給SUNY Buffalo問關於我的托福成績是否可以被接受
結果 很快的收到回音 如下
"We really can not accept your TOEFL score being that low. I would recommend that you try to retake your TOEFL and then consider applying. I would hate to encourage you to apply and they reject you because of that low score. "

其實他們真的還蠻誠實的 至少是在我花錢加發成績到他們學校前
就先跟我說NO
不過 心底還是很難過

這裡是我的基本申請背景
(1)Overall GPA:3.3 / Last 2 years GPA: 3.7
(2)GMAT Score: 610 (71%); Q:49(89%) / V:23 (30%) / AWA:4.5
(3)TOEFL (iBT): 85 (R:26/L:23/S:18/W:18)
(4)Two years full time work experience in Ogilvy group

請問各位有經驗的前輩們
我真的還要重新考托福嗎? (老實說很不想考, 除非必要)
哪些學校可以接受像我這樣的托福成績呢?
或是大家有什麼建議

PS看到學校回信 心情好悶 PO起文章來也寫的亂七八糟 希望大家別介意

接續原文
因為小難過 後來我寫信說
"即使我有兩年工作經驗與GPA3.7. 你們學校還是不能接受我, 因為托福太低? "
我還很丟臉的問學校說
"你們會提供conditional offer" "如果都不行, 我會考慮重考的"
然後 我就收到以下的回信

I believe that your credentials are great! We would really like to have you in our program. What I would suggest is that you should apply. The admissions committee will let me know if your TOEFL is too low and what recommendations they would like to give. I just don't want to lead you down the wrong path, and have you apply and be rejected and for me not to have told you upfront what your application is lacking.

You may want to apply and try to get into another TOEFL test (I will report that to the committee).

感覺Buffalo的人是真的蠻nice
所以這封信的意思是叫我重考嗎? = = 還是可以先申請呀?
總覺得很容易誤解英文信的意思 ><

他建議你可以先申請,但是需要一個新的托福成績
換句話說,他覺得你的舊的成績應該會被拒絕

如果很想去~就先申請~然後考到門檻吧
托福門檻真的是還算挺硬的規定啦

I would strongly suggest you to retake your TOEFL. The reason is not just for school, but for yourself.

Get the admission is just the beginning. However, with low English ability you won't be happy doing your program in America, no mention finding an internship or a job.

Never think about improving your English and studying your program at the same time. You will have a very hard time. Good luck to you.

SUNY buffalo 也是我想申請的學校之一
而我的托福程度和你差不多
但GPA比你低 GMAT更慘

樓上幾位分享的都很有道理
因此我下定決心再努力
因為若再辛苦一個月 換來影響一輩子的好學校
是很值得的

在我持續寫信與學校溝通後 最後的結果為
學校接受我能夠先用現有成績申請 然後再去報名托福
信件內容如下~與大家分享

That wouldn't be a problem. You may submit all your application materials and then re-schedule your TOEFL for sometime near the March 10th deadline. You may apply now. You would still need to submit your old TOEFL.

我想問的是~我只要報名3/10 deadline前的托福就可以嗎? 還是我還要預留成績出來的時間?
感覺信中的意思是deadline前考完就好 不管成績多久出來
是這樣吧?~

many schools offer pre-MBA programs
they can accept as low as 80 regarding Toefl
but strongly agree with lpwpete
for your own good

most of time the low listening is due to poor vocabulary
and for speaking and writing
just practice more
as intense as possible
record yourself and rewrite the sample articles will help significantly
