請問GMAT660可以apply TOP 50 school PhD of marketing?

努力了整整快二年
從一邊工作一邊唸
到今年年中把工作辭了專心準備
今天終於考到660（p.s.我也贊成不要太依賴ＪＪ,上次考被它害慘了,所以這次選擇裸奔）

對我而言,這個成績有點尷尬
因為career plan是要在唸完後留在美國教書的
也不能唸太差的學校

知道應該上不了top 20 schools
但看了一下top 50 各校官網
怎麼也好像要求的成績都很高？
頓時沒信心了起來

GMAT 660
TOEFL 準備中,一年前考的成績是88(因為工作太忙的關係，只唸了一週）
9 years working experience with 7 years in Marketing and 4+ years in foreign banks

鑑於PhD apply deadline時間因素,大概無法再考一次AT了

先謝謝Mike及本站的其他版版主,這二年中間真的深深受益於這個網站
我其實有先去精華區爬文過了
覺得發表經驗的人都是些top 20 的錄取者
好像看不到20-50 PhD錄取者的經驗

我也很想重考
但剛看了一下,最近可考的日期在１月中以後
對大多數學校而言，好像就來不及申請明年了
我年紀已經非常大了,家裡的壓力很大（父母無法理解為什麼要去唸）,所以不想再多花一年了
唯今之計是好好寫applications,把TOEFL考好
希望中上學校的PhD錄取者可以給點意見,謝謝

很謝謝你,我想,我會先準備TOEFL及申請文件,把deadline在一月中前的學校先選幾家申請,一月下旬再考ＡＴ（1/17前考場都沒名額了）；考完下一次ＡＴ後再申請剩下的目標學校

謝謝你的資訊,我已註冊好ＡＴ一月中的考試（本來想在１２月底飛去香港考,但覺得還是先考好TOEFL,同時survey研究方向）
這幾天研究所老師跟家人都叫我要在適當時機止血（他們都不太能理解為什麼現在PhD這麼難考,我要準備這麼久）
只叫我申請看看,其實我知道這樣上的機率很小
只好告訴自己,把明年一月的考試當作最後一次機會,如果真的不行,就得放棄
心情上是真的很沈重,得放棄喜歡的consumer psychology
前天才到圖書館看了幾篇journal,發現NYU Stern的幾位教授研究的東西很有趣的說...

Do you mean to visit them before I apply? Some friends warn me not to do so but others suggest the same thing you said. Did you visit the professor before you go? I would like to visit them if I am welcomed. I know it's important to have right chemistry because I will spend 5 years with him/her.

I've heard that some students do visist faculties. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But the very first thing you have to make yourself attractive to some professors. Actually it's very good to locate potential supervisors right now. To hedge your bets, you'd better figure out whom you currnetly most favor and seek for advices from her/him. It would be better if the one you want to work with happens to be the PhD coordinator/advisor (my personal experience).
However, you don't need to make decisions too early because most professors believe that doctoral students usually do not exactly know what scientific research is until they finish first/second year coursework. After taking those methology and seminar courses, which I'm doing now, you'll definitely get a whole new understanding about research programs.

Thanks! I think I will try to contact some professors on my journal list by email first. And then see their responses to decide whether I will visit them later.

對於研究,你提到NYU,我想或許你也有唸了Prof. Morwitz的paper,主要是針對cognitive psychology方面
我之前曾跟此教授聯繫,他特別強調過往的"研究經驗"...
如果你有很棒的研究經驗再加上很好的推荐信從那方面,我想申請包裝時,特別強調這方面,會是個機會!!

當然,在申請時,系上會有特別的教授吸引你去申請
但是,進去修課或跟著做RA後,通常會有不同的想法

Before you contact with faculty members, I strongly suggest that you read some of the faculty member's recent paper. You can show your research interests and ideas. If faculty members do not respond to your emails (Big names usually don't), perhaps contacting the current Ph.D students is a good idea. Maybe you can plan to meet the Ph.D. office staff and current Ph.D. students first and ask them to refer some faculty members for you.

嗯～研究經驗,我可以好好發揮一下,我碩士是寫brand equity的,所以也唸了不少Journal
但也僅止於此,後來就去工作了anyway, thank you very much!
