Does consulting firms look at college GPA?

Hello all,

I will be attending a top 15 MBA program this fall. However, my undergraduate GPA during college was pretty low (although it was a very good school).

I would like to work for a top consulting firm like McK, Bain, or BCG. I am wondering whether my college GPA from years ago will come back to prevent me from interviewing at the top firms? How much do top consulting firms look at undergrad GPA? What about Greater China offices?

Thanks.

If you are a top 15 MBA student, top-tier consulting firms care more about your working experience, your leadership capability and your analytical skill.

Don't worry too much about your GPA. I had a very low GPA- close to 3- but got interview invitations from all the top-tier consulting firms.

To get into consulting firms, make sure

1. Polish your resume to stand out based on the characteristics they are looking for, and
2. Get prepared for the case interview.

Good luck!

Yes,

In McKinsey, no one will ask your GPA in undergraduate study for the Associate position. However, we still need the evidence on your strong acedemic performance. You can list your GMAT score or other acedemic achievement in your resume.

If you do not have any, no worry, acdemic performance is one of the evaluation criteria. You can win out in other dimensions, such as leadership, working experience...etc
