被放在WL後的選項: Take English courses or Retake GMAT?

被一所學校放在Wait List上,對方在信件中給了點提示:

Perhaps these could be improved by retaking the GMAT. However, since you have already taken the GMAT 4 times, I am not sure that retaking the test again is your best strategy. Would you consider taking an English business communications skills class, at a local community college or similar venue? If so, the Admissions Committee would consider your mid-term or final grades when it re-reviews your application.

我的GMAT只有620,重考會是一個機會而我也計劃再考.不過我不太理解的是第二個選項.a local community college or similar venue,應該不可以是在台灣的學校吧? 因為學校會參考課程的成績,所以我想提供這些課程的機構應該是學校所認可的,所以傾向搜尋學校本身的語言附屬機構.

經查詢這所學校內有American English and Culture Program (AECP)的Intensive English Study 課程, 但上課最快是summer cycle (June~July). 另有一個Business English Certificate course, 卻是只提供於Fall and Spring cycle. 所以就算參加這個Intensive English Study 課程, Admissions Committee要看的成績結果也要到6,7月才能出來,而且有可能最後還是不錄取我....就算錄取似乎也趕不上秋季班開課??

有人可以提供一下意見嗎? 謝謝!

對方寫這種信件，應該是基於懷疑你的英文能力有關。不知道你的托福是否已經達到學校的要求？

對方所謂的 English business communications skills class, at a local community college 應該是指一般社區大學的商用英文課程即可，這樣的課程大多會在春秋季開課，課程大約是六到八週的課程。Adcom 可能以為你人在美國當地，因此建議你立即註冊這樣的課程，但是如果你人在台灣，retake GMAT 或許是比較實際的做法。

如果還有其他問題，可以寫封E-MAIL 問問 adcom 其他可以接受的辦法，不然就把 GMAT 考高一點，如果是高出 620 很多的話，勝算或許會較大。

我托福是沒到100,但對方很明顯表現出是GMAT的問題,根據信中的一段話:

Applicants may be placed on the waitlist for a number of reasons. In your case, the Admissions Committee expressed some concern about your English communication skills, particularly your writing skills. They referenced your scores on the Verbal and Analytical Writing sections of the GMAT.

所以感覺托福也不是他們要的,重點還是GMAT吧!

我是有先搜尋過學校附近的語言課程,但真的都是Summer或Fall開課,去上了學校又要根據上課成績決定offer,感覺就是和秋季班無緣阿....
