Is it ok to submit a 2-page resume when applying MBA?

文章Taiger » 2007-10-07 15:11

I know most people recommend to limit the resume in one page.
However, if I have worked for many years, and it is difficult to put all my working experiences in a 1-page resume, could I expend my resume to 2 page? But I don't want to give the admission a bad impression of 2-pages resume.

If I have to limit my resume to one page, could I just eliminate all info listed on other places of the application form? I am not sure if the potential interviewer could access to my other info in my application form, or it would be just a blind interview, making the interviewer miss some of my info which is not listed in a 1-page resume.

Thanks for any suggestions!

If you have over 5 year W/E, it is ok to submit 2-pages resume. Personal experience. FYI.

Most recruiters and admissions officers would think you have [size=18]BIG problems expressing your qualifications if you have less than 10 years of work experience and can not describe it within one page of resume. You would have very limited chance to get into a top business school or land a job in the States.

it's ok
but strongly recommend please don't take this risk
the application review is really a fast skim
real fast
sometimes reviewing the whole package may only take 5 minutes
(4 essays+letters of recommendation+cover letter+resume, but it's definately a fair competition)
while resume is the reference to support your statements in essays
almost no time to turn to 2nd page
even the experienced committee may assume that you have a single-page resume
and doesn't realize you have the 2nd page

even 16 years experience applicants can still articulate in 1 page
it also reflects the efficiency of expression
applicant can even neclect some relatively unimportant events
just present the logic toward career objective

just my 2 cents on some reality in reviewing process

Sorry, a further clarification to the point I made. It's easy to land a job in the States if you don't care about how much you get paid. However, you would find it very hard to land a GOOD job (annual base > $90,000) if you can not submit a PROFESSIONAL resume.

Thanks Eric and all friends above.
Your opinions are very helpful.
I will produce a one-page resume.
