Dear Hsin-Hung,

Thunderbird is a unique community made of unique individuals who have a curiosity to understand, and a desire to make
a difference in, the world around them. For all of you T-birds, new and returning students alike, the Thunderbird campus
is a center point of the worldwide Thunderbird community, where individuals from different cultures learn about and from
one another and together grow as effective and responsible global leaders.

This is what we promise you when you enroll at Thunderbird ?through your time and studies here, you will develop the
global mindset and management skills to have a successful and rewarding career in whatever part of the world and whatever
industry strikes your interest. Most returning students have already discovered the myriad of things this School has to
offer and, for new students, I hope that you are already well on the path to discovering Thunderbird intellectual and
cultural richness for yourselves.

To create this diversity, it is important that we draw students from different cultural and professional backgrounds.
We are very pleased that this year brings not only experienced professionals seeking to advance their careers with an
MBA in Global Management, but also those students who are looking to launch their careers with two of our new master
degrees: The Master of Science in Global Management and the Master of Arts in Global Affairs and Management. These two
new programs have been designed in an integrated way, based on an innovative approach intended to enrich the learning of
students interested in different types of organizations.

The new degree programs will not only add to the vibrancy and diversity of the campus, but will allow Thunderbird to serve
a new group of students for whom we previously had no degree offering. The Thunderbird 2010 strategic plan, which was launched
in 2006, establishes a commitment to educate global leaders at every stage of their careers, and by doing so, extend the impact
that we can have in advancing global management practice. We now are able to help people launch careers with the new degrees,
advance or change their careers with our full-time and part-time MBA offerings, and further build successful careers of experienced
global managers with the Executive MBA.

It has been rewarding for all of us to see how the new approach to our degree programs, as well as the curricular innovations
introduced over the last couple of years have increased interest in all of our programs. In fact, the School is seeing total
fall registrations up 14 percent over last year. The 253 MBA students who attended Foundations Week represent a 12% increase
over Fall 06; the Executive MBA program is up 13 percent over last year, and the MA/MS degrees have brought in 35 new students.
The Global MBA On-Demand program is up about 44 percent over last year with 50 students enrolled, and the Global MBA for Latin
American Managers remains one of our biggest programs with 164 new students.

Gender diversity has also improved considerably, with the total number of incoming female students up 43 percent over last year.
Women now represent 31 percent of the students in the MBA, and 55 percent of students in the MA/MA degrees.

No matter which program you have chosen or career path you are on, you all exemplify the unique characteristics of that set you
apart from students at other schools. Each of you comes to Thunderbird with a unique global perspective that differentiates you
from your peers. You are global thinkers and global explorers who embrace differences in cultures, people and geographies. With
almost half of student body representing more than 30 countries from outside of the United States, you also bring with you vast
experience and knowledge of other countries and cultures. By sharing that knowledge, those experiences and your unique global
perspectives with fellow students, you play a very important role in furthering the truly global education experience here at
Thunderbird.

This year unique blend of students and programs will provide a more enriching and stimulating learning environment for you all.
Good luck to you in your studies, and remember to fully take advantage of and enjoy this unique global experience. Your time here
is short, but your experiences and your deepened global mindset will carry with you throughout your lives and your careers.
