With a record number of new companies starting up in Derderia and with previously established companies adding many jobs, a record number of new jobs were created last year in the Derderian economy. This year, previously established companies will not be adding as many new jobs overall as such companies added last year. Therefore, unless a record number of companies start up this year, Derderia will not break its record for new jobs created.

想了很久,想不透為什麼答案不是A呢?
如果新公司可以給多一點工作,那不就符合題目中所說的"Therefore, unless a record number of companies start up this year, Derderia will not break its record for new jobs created."

題目是在問"除非新公司數的增加，否則不能讓工作機會增加。"的假設前提
(A) 有可能會讓工作增加，所以就不符合結論
(B) Companies established last year -->偏離議題焦點:新開公司與工作機會增加的關係
(C) 新公司不會增加巨量的工作機會，反過來想，如果新公司假設開的跟去年一樣多，結果都是一些國際大廠在此設立基地，頓時工作不就劇增。
(D) (E) 討論 established companies 工作機會的增與減，又更離題了。

所以答案是C

雖然看了解釋還是想了一下..
不過總算明白了~

重點是在新公司的數量.不是新公司會給的工作,
讓工作量比去年多吧~

因為破紀錄的新公司新創於D, 還有之前已經成立的公司增加了許多工作, 一個配紀錄的新工作數量被創造出來, 去年在D
This year, previously established companies will not be adding as many new jobs overall as such companies added last year.
今年, 之前建立的公司將不會增加許多新工作, 如同去年
Therefore, unless a record number of companies start up this year, Derderia will not break its record for new jobs created.
因此, 除非有破紀錄的公司今年草創出來, 不然D將不會有破紀錄的新工作被創造出來.

總結 :
去年會破紀錄因為 :
1. 已經建立好的公司大大提供工作數量
2. 很多新創公司的成立(意思是說, 公司會雇用員工, 新創表示會招募人力, 也會增加工作數目)

個人覺得有兩個地方比較重要的.
一個是題目結論的地方 " Unless a record number of companies start up this year, Derderia will not break its record of new jobs created ".
另一個是答案C中的兩個字 " This year, the new companies starting up will not provide substantially more jobs per company than did new companies last year.

既然題目是說 : 只有公司的數量增加, 才會造成職缺的增加.
答案C則是限定 : 今年新開的公司, 單一公司所提供的職缺不比去年單一公司所提供的多 ---> 避免了一家公司提供很多很多職缺的情形出現.
例如去年新開十家公司, 平均一家有十個職缺, 所以共有一百個好了. 今年如果只有一家新公司, 但它是大公司 (比如鴻海), 它一家就提供了三百個職缺. 雖然職缺總數破紀錄, 但是就新開公司數而言, 是違反了題目的立論. 所以要先限定起來.
因此, 在這個前提下如果今年職缺還想破紀錄的話, 就只有新開公司的數量比去年多的時候才有可能 (舊公司提供的職缺在題目中已經被限制了). 立論成立.
