不過我還是勉強的選到了Ｂ

我的看法是題目說有一間store倒了是因為他敵不過Colson's開業後帶來的商業競爭；Colson's是一間nondiscount department store，而B選項說自從Colson's開幕後，新開的店都是discount store，因兩者的顧客群是不一樣的，discount store的競爭者應該也是discount stores，而不是nondiscount store(Colson's)，所以這個選項我認為是weaken。

其他的選項看起來都不太可能...所以就選B

不過我還是勉強的選到了Ｂ

我的看法是題目說有一間store倒了是因為他敵不過Colson's開業後帶來的商業競爭；Colson's是一間nondiscount department store，而B選項說自從Colson's開幕後，新開的店都是discount store，因兩者的顧客群是不一樣的，discount store的競爭者應該也是discount stores，而不是nondiscount store(Colson's)，所以這個選項我認為是weaken。

其他的選項看起來都不太可能...所以就選B

我覺得推論在「those locations will not stay vacant for long」。

要 weaken的話，就要讓這些地方閒置很久。

所以似乎只有B 比較適合，

因為只要開的店都是discount store，因為不敵spendless，就會產生倒閉的現象。

似乎Colson's好像跟這題答案沒有什麼關係。

我對題目的解讀是在 Goreville 開的折價店未來五年將不敵 SpendLess (也是折價店) 而關門,但倒店舊址的空地不會閑置太久;過去五年,在 Goreville 每一個倒店舊址都開新的店,舊店關門是因為無法與 Colson’s (非折價店)競爭.

摘要一下:
無法與 Colson’s (非折價店)競爭 => 舊店關門 => 倒店舊址開新的店 => 將不敵 SpendLess (也是折價店) 而關門 => 空地不會閑置太久 (因為過去的經驗,新店會很快開在倒店舊址)
現在要弱化"空地不會閑置太久"

(A) 無關
(B) 開的都是折價店 => 遲早倒閉 => 空地閑置
(C) 支持
(D) 無關

看了很久, 終於發現題目的重心: those locations will not stay vacant for long

前一句是說discount VS discount (有competition),
作者用although(預期)當句首,
而逗點後面的是他的論點 (those locations will not stay vacant for long).
他的claim違反常理, 因為照道理說倒店的話, locations will stay vacant.

下一句: nondiscount VS a new store
(a new store cannot compete with nondiscount, 因為顧客群不一樣).
this implies that this new store is a discount store.
既然如此, 就表示只要和nondiscount store性質不同,
these stores will survive since they do not have to compete with nondiscount ones.

但要weaken的要反駁 those locations will not stay vacant for long.
(因為these discount stores 和SPENDLESS或彼此之間都會compete, 之後都會倒了, 直接反駁了)

->最近開SpendLess大型折扣店 -> 附近的折扣店"又"開始倒店
所以並沒有動機讓這些原本的土地又會開新店 因此WEAKEN

題目+答案組成以下狀況!!(選項B組成劃線部分)

結論→開甚麼都倒店→大家都不敢開店→所以有空位....weaken!!

要怎麼推到.....店面會不會空太久.....這真的太~~虛無飄渺了~~

個人覺得是在WEAKEN.....a new store has opened at the location that closed because it could not compete with Colson’s.

不同性質不能比較.....就WEAKEN了~~

第一句：對未來五年作預期
「雖然預期在Goreville商業中心的"折扣店"會無法與最近新開的SpendLess折扣店競爭而關門，但相信這些空地不會閒置太久」

第二句：即開始解釋上句推論"空地不會閒置太久"的原因，引用過去5年的例子
「在過去5年，自從"非折扣店"Colson開幕，每個因無法與Colson競爭而倒閉店家的地段，均有新店設立，並開到現在」
此句文法結構如下：
1.用現在完成式-has opened，表示open動作持續到現在
2."that closed because it could not compete with Colson's" 是用來修飾前面的"every store"；it 亦是指"every store"

而選項B的意思為，第二句所說的這些新開的店主要會是"折扣店"，
換句話說，前5年這些新店會設立，可能是因為預期"折扣店"可以與"非折扣店"Colson競爭，所以才會設置，但現在面臨SpendLess這家"折扣店"的競爭，
就不一定會設置了-->weaken 空地不會閒置的結論。
