B,C中,remaining 是分詞代替連接詞，還原就跟D一樣是 and remain了，為什麼會錯，不過OG裡用分詞代替連接詞好像常行不通，看到好幾題了。

不過分詞代替連接詞在莫杯杯跟賴水信書裡都有提，應該是不會錯的呀

要點進GMAT SC考區的地方有一句永遠是「句意」為上...
這個我覺得真的很關鍵喔~
我在二戰時都事先把題意看清後才做答
所以看完題目有時就很清楚後面會是或不是分詞構句(某些題目真的看得出來喔 )
文法常常都是對的~只是句意讓句子變成ambiguous嚕

我覺得這個答案不能改為分詞結構的原因
並不是因為 ambiguity 耶
是因為他是跟 put 並列
也就是 processing steel scrap into a specialized group of products has enabled small mills to remain economically viable
而前面那一串是被省略的
所以不能改成分詞構句

改成分詞構句的話
就不是跟 put 並列 句意自然改變
這是我的想法
僅供參考

不過 ivanchiang 說的對
文法修辭只是基本錯誤
有時候句意是不是被移轉才是關鍵

這裡最主要的錯誤就是 remaining分詞構句一用，修飾的對象是誰？變得很ambiguous了

另外，「分詞代替連結詞」我一直無法理解這個東西，原理是什麼？運用時機為何？

大家可以說說嗎？

我在猜是不是有因果關係時不能改呀，put capital into new technology 是因，remain economically viable是果。
不過考試時，誰有那個美國時間想那麼多呀。

最近再做一次這題，選到(E)去，當初在選(D)和(E)之間猶豫，覺得(D)的remain和put平行沒錯，但是(E)的remained難道不能是been的平行嗎?(也就是說=have been able to put capital into new technology and have remained economically viable.因為前面都有have所以可以省略的情形)如果是這樣，句意有被改變嗎?因為我自己看不出來，希望NNs可以解惑一下~~~

同時 我覺得 and 雖為對等連接詞, 但似乎在某些句意時, 有前後時間(發生)上的差異

其次我覺得用 (b)(c)的remaining 是可以的
因為可以用分詞 remaining 來修飾主要子句(整句)(句意上似乎也說得過去)

(用分詞的選項在題目常出現)

但是既然OG的解釋是要 put 與 remain 平行, 與用分詞來修飾主要子句的句意不同, 我們也就接受吧

我的感覺
"句意的確是優先",但是每個人解讀句意的方式不同,"應該要以OG的想法為優先",這部份要以常做題目來突破囉!!!!
