應該是兩種人的比較 因此這邊如果要比的話
後面可能要加上have會比較好一點

從選項中一開始可感覺出比較級的用法,
前ABC選項偏half
而DE選項為at least fifty percent
印象中比較級用half+or less...than表達似乎不是很恰當,
且又不清楚
倒不如用at least fifty percent來得簡潔
D的比較級形態表達錯誤,
故答案選E
類似的觀念在OG(V)NO.75

1. 如果要比較, as 必需成對出現, 所以至少得看到像 50% as likely as 的片語
2. 如果 as 解釋為"像",句意就不大合理: 坐著的跟做運動的都有 50% 機會死於心臟病?

(B) (C) 應該是 half the chance more/less than

(D) 應該是 less than

正確應該要這樣改嗎?

OR

have less or equal to half of dying of a hear attack than those who are sendentary to.


可是B 看起來比較簡單...

因為B選 have half chance 的寫法 ... 不好意思我上面忘記打chance

我比較了一下A, B

前面只有一點不同

(A) have half or less than half the chance of dying of a heart attack .....
(B) have half the chance, or less, of dying of a heart attack ....

像B這樣寫or less 離開了那個half 就是錯誤的囉?

A選項, 不簡潔,要用也應該會用 A ..have half or less than B這樣的結構, than和as通常是不會一起出現在結構裡
B選項,拜讀前人大作,傾向於也是解釋為不簡潔(跟at least fifty percent比起來),但是我實在不知道有啥不好,希望能有人為我再指點迷津
C選項,我不甚確定,只覺得鮮少看見中間是that結構的比較內容
D選項,as必錯,因為有less必有than
E為正解

不過我一直以為than是對應到插句裡的less哩....
看來我對插入句的理解還不夠完全

插入句可以拿掉並不影響句意及結構,是這麼一個說法嗎？
