可以先消掉的選項：
一、a、b，因為沒動詞
二、a、c，因為前面是兩件事，但應該視為是同一件事。也就是兩件事合起來是同一個理由。如果有逗號在and前面，那就變兩件事了。整個句子的結構就變得雜亂。

d最主要的問題，在於用with領導的介系詞片語當形容詞用，來修飾主詞many people。但是這個介系詞片語太誇張的複雜了。這麼複雜的句子，不可以用一個簡單的介系詞來搪塞。
所以還是選用連接詞帶領的while子句為正確答案。

"D 是說明原因的子句，用with ...開頭是常見的句法，E　的　while　則不知所云，因為跟主要子句並無「對比」可言。"
至於(D)脫節的問題及(E)中兩個副詞子句共用一個主要子句的結構問題,
老師的回覆如下...
"D 是有點脫節方面的小瑕疵，但以ets出題的習性，這種寫法還真不少，我的書中有寫我想您應看過。E 則是個根本不通的句子，如你所言，這樣的結構矛盾。"

雖然來有點晚加入討論,但我這後輩看不太懂您沒寫什???
1.with那理重了ㄚ,是裡面算短的吧,with表伴隨動做之副詞片語修飾主要子句動詞,本題最後還有一個副詞子句,句子結構會副子,主子,副子嗎,我不太了
2.e的句意我看不出那理對,真是怪了
3.become increasingly 多餘，老莫講過的---是我沒注意到嗎
應該是d才最可能對

E:雖然在利多的情況下，還是很多人選擇在夜間和周未打電話

前人puthing說得很清楚了

向樓上請教...那答案E的行動電話普及和後面句子(如果是想省錢的話)如何有對比的意思?
還有in last year用完成式會不會怪怪的?要也用since吧?
勉強選答案D....後面when子句到底想表達什麼?看不太懂~~~

看了討論 with (有,附隨)… 修飾 many people ,句意變了.
看到原句 becasue of 先看選項有沒有 because ,可惜沒有.(實在應該用連接詞有獨立主詞句意比較清楚,最好的連接詞首推 because 囉!) 如果考的是 (A) because of 的句意, (D) (E) 的 with 和 while 都不能替代 because (of).
原來 (E) 時態沒有問題,爭議的是 while… 的(對比)句意. while 真的怪怪.

重看這題，還蠻認同陳菱芷的觀點，結構上以　從屬子句+主要子句　為宜 (不過片語過長的說法在gwd 9-18就被推翻了，所以這個基本上不是最佳的判斷依據)
此外，with片語的成本下降，若拿來用做are using的伴隨修飾，語感上岐意了...

選(E)應該是沒有問題的，while除了做對比，更常用於表達時間(接近when)不是嗎

此題除了(D)和(E)的選項外,其他的答案都不太可能...
但(E)選項裡我認為有動詞的錯誤,in the last year的用法應該不像in last ten years, 因為in last ten years表示過去這10年來,其應該用完成式,而in last year則不應該用完成式,其倒比較偏向於過去式
而(D)選項,其完整的句意是While the cost of wireless service plummeted in the last year and mobile phones became increasingly common, many people are now using their mobile phones to make calls across a wide region at night and on weekends, when numerous wireless companies provide unlimited airtime for a relatively small monthly fee.
有一種用法是將While改成with,而因為主詞不同所以保留主詞,並將其動詞改為分詞結構, 因此而形成了With the cost of wireless service plummeting in the last year and mobile phones becoming increasingly common, many people are now using their mobile phones to make calls across a wide region at night and on weekend, when numerous wireless companies provide unlimited airtime for a relatively small monthly fee.

這題我覺得D比E好

雖然D用with片語修飾,很不簡潔,但句意沒有錯,

反而E改變句意,即使他比較簡潔

D: 隨著去年無線服務的費用下降以及手機變得更普及, 很多人現在開始在週末晚上用手機打電話,而很多無線服務公司在這個時段用相對較低的月費提供了無限制的airtime(應該是撥打時間)

-->with在這邊有點表原因的意味

而E:while表示雖然 儘管, 帶入句子中的話,不符合句意

如果是費用上升的話,卻仍然有很多人打無線電話的話, 這樣句意還說的通

必須承認D是個結構不好的句子(跟E比),正確性無誤 是有效性的問題, 但句意正確!

看了討論串下來還是無法確定哪一個答案比較好.
請問選D的人, with修飾many people不算選項D瑕疵嗎?
