A square conuntertop has a square tile inlay in the center, leaving an untiled strip of uniform width around the tile. If the ration of the tiled area to the untiled area is 25 to 39, which of the following could be the width, in inches, of the strip?

I) 3/2
II)3
III)9/2

A)I only
B)II only
C)I and II only
D)I and III onoly
E)I, II, and III

這一題頗有難度

一個正方的countertop 裡面鋪正方形的磚塊
有鋪磚塊的地方 和 沒鋪磚塊的地方的比例是 25/39

圖形就是: 一個大正方形 裡面有一個小正方形
假設X=countertop的長length [大正方形的邊]
Y=有鋪磚塊的長 [大正方形裡的小正方形的邊]

那麼 Y/X=8/5 ==> Y=5/8X 小正方形的邊=5/8大方型的邊

假設W=大正方形 和 小正方形的 距離間隔

W=(大正方形的邊-小正方形的邊) / 2

W=(X-Y)/2=3/16X

也就是說 W=3/16大正方形的

問W可為何?

只要X為整數即可 W=3/16X

1) W=3/2
X=(3/2)(16/3)=8

2) W=3
X=3(16/3)=16

3) W=9/2
X=(9/2)(16/3)=24

所以(E) 都可為W
